Site Stuff – We’re Moving

Sorry to hit you with another ‘Site Stuff ‘ post, and apologies in advance that there may be quite a few of these in the next few days.  The reason for this one is that we are going to move the site over the next few days, to a new hosting company and server.

I ‘m not going to bore you with all of the background and reasons for the move “ the short story is the site has outgrown its current hosting setup and needs a bigger and better server and environment to work in “ so that ‘s what it ‘s going to get.  In fact, it ‘s going to get a huge upgrade in every way “ bigger, faster servers, tons more bandwidth, and so on.  This should make the site much faster and better when the move and site transition are done.

Along the way though, I ‘m sure there will be some headaches “ for me and my colleagues helping me with the move “ and some inconvenience, for you all when visiting the site over the next few days.

We ‘ll be doing our utmost to minimize the inconvenience and limit any downtime as much as we can.  I hope you ‘ll bear with us and forgive us if things don ‘t go entirely to plan over the weekend and we have some issues. 

I am also hoping that we ‘ll get the bulk of things done over the next couple of days, and have the site fully up and running in its new and improved environment prior to Monday and all that WWDC goodness.

This may seem like a crazy weekend to be taking on this move, just prior to WWDC.  It does to me as well, believe me.  Again, I won ‘t bore you with the details, but this is a good time window and there are pressing reasons for making the move, so we ‘re going to go for it starting tomorrow morning.

Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding during our upcoming move.  It should result in a new and improved JAiB once it ‘s completed “ which is something I ‘ve been wanting to get to for quite a while
