AT&T, MMS & Small Favors

AT&TOrange

So in amongst all the bad news relating to AT&T and the new iPhone OS 3.0 “ no MMS at launch of 3.0, no tethering until later this summer, and generally lagging behind other carries “ there ‘s one little bit of not-so-terrible news.  They have stated in a Customer FAQ document (PDF link HERE) that they will not be charging extra for MMS messages when they do make that feature available.

Not enough to be singing AT&T ‘s praises I ‘m sure, but better than a kick in the teeth, at least in this one little area

They might have had a mutiny on their hands if they had tried charging extra for MMS. And in other AT&T news… <a link="http://www.tuaw.com/2009/06/15/atandt-to-discontinue-prepaid-iphone-plans/">they're giving the boot to all pay-as-you-go iPhone users (except the original 2G Pick-Your-Plan). I thought hard about the possibility of buying the 3G S with no contract and just getting a goPhone plan. It looks like if the new AT&T can't have you as a locked in customer they would rather not have you at all.

aflorence – I saw that news about trying to end pay-as-you-go options – that's pretty rank, especially the way it's being done …

Seriously! This sounds like MMSBS to me. Thanks for the info! That's good news about the pricing.
