Mac Shipments Rebounding in Recent Weeks

AppleInsider is reporting that Mac shipments have bounced back after a slump, reaching levels they haven’t seen since October of 08. The reason for the sales jump is believed to be Apple’s price drops and back-to-school promotion.

Katy Huberty of Morgan Stanley says that her data suggests Mac shipments have regained momentum and beat her second quarter and 2009 calendar estimates by a sizable amount. She also mentions that the refresh in early June will “likely provided a catalyst for growth in both the June and September quarters”.

Huberty goes on to show us a graph of weekly sales data from the research firm NPD. She notes “steady acceleration” in Mac sales since the MacBook Pro refresh. Huberty also goes on to mention “…Mac shipments up 25% month-over-month in May versus market growth of just 1%,”.

Awesome. Even in this economic slump Apple isn’t losing business as bad as some of the other computer manufacturers. I’m glad to hear it.
