A Great iPhone Camera Pic
I ‘m no photography expert “ not by a long, long shot “ but I ‘ve always been struck by some of the great shots people are able to get with their iPhones. I ‘m more than a bit biased on this one, as it was taken by my father-in-law “ but I have to say, bias or no bias, I think it ‘s just a superb shot.
It was taken Sunday evening, looking over the lake right behind my father-in-law ‘s lovely house, with an iPhone 3G “ not even a new 3GS with the upgraded camera.

the iPhone is both the best and worst camera – best because it's always with you – I use it more than my nice DSLR simply because it's so avaliable, and worst because it's not all that great. In good lighting as with your FIL's pic, it's actually pretty decent. I find that using Picoli or CoolFX (iPhone Apps) help with sharpening, contrast, saturation, and a bit of vignetting. I took this one after my daughter's ballet recital, and it turned out better than the bunch that I took with the DSLR, even with a bit of in-phone post production on it:

That is one beautiful shot there Patrick. I too is experimenting with the iPhone as a tool for taking great pictures.

I did a bit of processing using Topaz. Looks better taken with my 50D… Maybe. LOL.

LOL. I wish. This is a model train displayed inside a hospital lobby (don't ask why I'm there. LOL.). I placed my iPhone on top the glass case, and fire away. I love this shot, and also this one came out pretty nice

I don't have it – just have the emailed pic from my father-in-law. I'll ask him to send me full size this evening.
I didn't think the iPhone camera could capture anything this well. Excellent shot, great colours and good details in the black.
Was there any manipulation in photoshop or anything?
No Photoshop or anything like that – this was sent to me straight off his iPhone.
