Check out appadvice’s App Awards!

I swear I recognize the name Patrick Jordan from somewhere, but I honestly forget where. Was it a darts site? Was it a Canadian site? Ah well.
This “Patrick” fellow was apparently part of a small committee to highlight the best apps released within a year of the App Store’s debut. Some of the apps I recognize up there are Rolando 2, Simplify Music 2, Facebook, AIM, and Evernote (woohoo). The categories are along the left side, and there are links to every single app in a category once you open it up. All in all a very well organized set of awards — check it out by clicking here.

Facebook is app of the year and the most useful app? Are you kidding me? It's too bad there doesn't seem to be any justifications for why apps were chosen. I was excited to browse through that site until I saw Facebook at the top of the first two categories I clicked on. Facebook isn't my life like some people, but even if it were the Facebook app is so incredibly far from the most useful app and it's just not well made compared to many many others.
I have to admit that was not on my list of nominated apps. The winners were chosen by user votes I believe though – and I think there are some very good winners in many categories.
