push notiifcations on jailbroken iPhone 3GS

Quite a few people have been asking me about this “ here on the site and via Twitter “ so I thought I ‘d do a very short post to answer this question.

Push notifications work just fine on a jailbroken iPhone 3GS.  I ran the purplera1n jailbreak on my 3GS a few nights back and notifications continue to work just fine.  I ‘ve tested with SimplyTweet and with Prowl “ which throws me notifications from several of my desktop apps.

So if you were wondering, no problems with push and a jailbroken 3GS, at least not in my experience thus far.

    No issues here either

Why should it refuse to work? The problems result from Unlocking the iPhone.

Hacktivated (non-authentically activated – regardless of unlock) phones have problems with Push because of using the same ECID code signature that the Push notification service uses to identify which device to route the messages to. I know – confusing… I wonder if the Dev Team can fix this? Probably!

LOL – yes you are. I'll send over a 'glamour shot' of my dog, so perhaps you can feature him at The iPhone Download Blog – oh crap, or does he need to send you a DM to get featured? :)
