Security Patch for iPhone SMS Vulnerability Coming Tomorrow?

Posted on 31 Jul 2009 by PatrickJ

If you were concerned about the security flaw discovered by ressecurityearchers that could infect iPhones worldwide, it appears that Apple shares your concern. A report today from BBC News sources an O2 spokesperson who says a patch would be available on Saturday via iTunes.

If this is accurate, it is good news relating to the major security hole in SMS that currently leaves the iPhone badly exposed. The sad thing that ‘s mentioned in the report of course is that Apple has still not commented on the issue at all “ and presumably will not.  They ‘ll just quietly release an update.  I still feel that with a vulnerability as large and potentially damaging as this one, they really should do some communicating.
