A Quick Look at Activity on App Store Apps vs. Cydia (jailbreak) Apps

New in Cydia New in AppMiner

Just a quick thought after doing one of my frequent little glances at what ‘s new in iPhone apps this afternoon.  The volume of apps being developed for the jailbreak arena really still is just a fraction of what ‘s being done for the App Store.

Not that this is any great revelation of course “ it just struck me again this afternoon, I think just because of the visual, of seeing just two new apps for today ‘s date in Cydia versus 123 showing in the Paid section of AppMiner alone.

Now admittedly I haven ‘t added any non-default sources to Cydia yet, and I ‘m sure there are a bunch more jailbreak apps that would show up if I did. Having said that though, the 123 new apps in AppMiner are only paid ones (there were 52 free ones shown on a separate tab) and AppMiner doesn ‘t show all of what ‘s available in the App Store.  Judging by a few RSS feeds I follow for new apps, there are often several hundred new apps available from one day to the next in the App Store.
