Musicmakers are going to love playing around with Groovemaker, a family of apps that allow you to create and share electronic, dance and hip-hop songs on the go, in real-time just like a professional DJ or music producer.

At the moment, Groovemaker comes in 4 variations: FREE (free), Club ($4.99), House ($9.99) and Hip-Hop ($9.99). Four additional styles will follow shortly.

The apps come with hundreds of loops that can be automatically remixed on 8 available tracks. Choose a ‘Mix ‘ button to create a new groove, add beats, effects, melody or additional loops. The sky ‘s the limit.

It ‘s easy to get lost in the myriad choices so luckily there ‘s a useful help menu to get you quickly on track.

My impressions? Even though I ‘m no DJ, the grooves are highly addictive so I definitely plan to experiment with the presets and create some groove magic of my own. Faced with such a loaded toolbox, I have merely scratched the surface of potential at the moment.

Definitely a welcome set of instruments for hobby and professional musicians/DJs alike!

Great app, but the sequencer scroll is far too sensitive when you are trying to scroll through the grooves you have created and it becomes very frustrating when this happens and also you can 'lose' grooves in the sequencer section if you're not careful just by scrolling across as I said before, it needs to be addressed by the developers.
Difficult to download the actual wav file if you have a Mac, it just appears in Safari as a QuickTime file on the web page which means it can't be loaded directly into iTunes or your desktop. That's a real pain.
