Anniversary Contest No. 2 – Win Free Promo codes for Comics, a comic reader and store for iPhone
Three Promo Codes for Comics for iPhone are available to be won!
Contest Deadline: Wednesday August 19th, 2:00 PM US Central.
I reviewed Comics a little while ago and really enjoyed the experience. The panel-by-panel approach was really interesting, but I also enjoyed the freedom to zoom out and see the whole page. Comics isn’t just a reader, though: it takes advantage of in-app purchasing so that you can download new issues right to your iPhone, and it can even point out local comic stores in case you’d like to buy a hard copy of something.

Good luck to all!

I would dig this… and I think the in-app purchases are simpiler and the future (micro transactions for games, purchases, etc…) so I'm down with in app purchases because only synch to my desktop like once every week or two to back stuff up…. otherwise… it's over the airwaves for me.
If I can't have both, I'd prefer desktop syncing so that I could add my own content to the app.
MEANWHILE…BACK AT THE BAT CAVE…
Robin: Holy downloads, Batman. This new comic book reader allows in-app purchasing! This will make it easier than ever to get comics.
Batman: That's exactly what I'm afraid of, Robin. By making it so much easier to get comics, we might find ourselves in the midst of a comic reading epidemic. People won't go to work. Kids will skip school. Government officials will ignore their civic responsibilites. If I didn't know any better, I'd say this sounds like a plot by one of our old foes to clear the streets for their latest caper. What do you think, Robin….Robin?
Robin: Oh, gee, sorry Batman. I was so busy reading comics on "Comics" that I didn't catch what you said.
Batman: It's happening already – InApp purchasing IS easier than off device downloads!

I'll take both. I think both have their pros and cons. For desktop syncing – Pro – you can sync your own content as Jay pointed out. Con – you have to be in Wifi proximity of your computer thus limiting when and where you do your syncing unless your read your own content on a laptop and it's always with you. For In-App-Purchases – Pro – Content can be purchased over the air and you aren't relying on having a computer nearby. Con – Content is not widely available yet. It will probably take a year or two for comic companies to catch onto this new trend. But if I had to choose, at least for my own needs, I'd go with desktop syncing simply because the content I have isn't available digitally.
Pick me! Pick me! I currently have another comic reader on my iPhone that I sync comics to, but it's really a pain to zoom in and zoom out constantly when reading a comic. It shouldn't take me any longer to read a comic on my iPhone than it does to read the physical comic.
I have read a couple of comics that use the Comics interface, and I absolutely love it! It's the only way to read comics on my phone… Going from one pain to the next. So, I definitely prefer in app comic purchases over syncing them to my iPhone (which takes forever , by the way!). Plus, with in app purchases, you only have to download them once. Not, once to your computer and then again to your phone.
Comics is one of the very few comic book readers that gets it right. The panel view is just amazing. And i definitely prefer in app purchases to syncing over from the desktop.
I love Comics, the reading method is probably the best I've tried so far. Downloading was slow for whatever reason, but in general I like to download on my PC and then sync to iPhone (I do this for podcasts as well).
I know I already won one contest, but hey why not try for more??? I'm on a roll!! LOL Being a big comic book collector as a kid this would be awesome. And I think this would be great for my seven year old son to practice his reading even, since he's always looking for cool stuff on my iphone to do!!
In-app purchasing all the way! I already hate having to sync with itunes to add music/vids etc… Anything to break down the syncing dependancy and make a 'wireless' device truly wireless!!!
comics = good
