KGSR & A Few Other Local Austin Radio Stations Launch iPhone Apps
Quite a number of local radio station apps hit the iPhone App Store today “ including a few from my hometown, Austin. The Austin station apps I spotted are for 101X (KROX), 93.7 KLBJ, and one of my favorites, KGSR (107.1).
All the apps are by the same developer “ StreamTheWorld Inc. “ all of them are free, and quite basic. They offer a main Listen screen, a Last 10 Songs history screen (which is just a listing), and page that provides a link to the station ‘s web site.
All these local station apps of course suffer from the same (Apple imposed) weakness as all non-iPod music apps “ no ability to continue playing when the app is not open. To see all the local radio apps produced by StreamTheWorld, see this App Store page.

Since I updated to iOS 4 on my iPhone, the KGSR app stopped working. It launches, but when I press the "play" button, the app quits and I am taken back to the main screen of iPhone.
Sounds like KGSR have not updated the app yet to work with iOS 4.
