GAH! There’s a Guinness Finding App for iPhone And I Can’t Use It

I like a pint of Guinness. A lot, as it goes. So, not surprisingly, I very much like the sound of an iPhone app that helps me find pubs that serve Guinness draught.
That ‘s just what the new Guinness Pub Finder app does “ plus a few more neat Guinness-related things “ but I cannot use the pub-finding feature of it because it is not legal in the state of Texas. Oh, Texas “ bad call.
The app provides a nice set of features for the Guinness-loving iPhone owners out there. Here are some of them, per its App Store page:
- ‘Locate a Pint ‘: GPS locator with pub data plus exclusive ‘one-touch ‘ email invitation capability.
- ‘Know your Pint ‘: ’6 steps to Pouring the Perfect Pint of Guinness ‘ and official ‘Pint Head Ruler ‘
- DRINKIQ: Useful alcohol FAQs
That second feature should be essential reading for all bartenders who serve up Guinness. It ‘s also got some animated screen savers and a countdown clock to the upcoming ‘Arthur ‘s Day ‘ 250th Anniversary of Guinness celebrations (on September 24th).
The app sounds well done “ but I ‘m not going to purchase it knowing that one of the key features “ the pub finder “ will not function in my state. Texas is not the only state where the pub finding ability is illegal either:

If you ‘re fortunate enough to live in a state not mentioned in that list, and you ‘re a fan of Guinness, you ‘ll want to check out the Guinness Pub Finder in the App Store, where it ‘s priced at $1.99.

I'm surprised Oregon isn't in that list. We're a state that can't even announce "last call", or advertise "happy hour drinks" visible off-property. And yet, we can find our Guinness. Odd.
If you're a true Guinness fan you'll move!! LOL
No, I know you're a fan…I noticed the t-shirt you had on in your profile pic!
OK, breaking out my mapping app to see where Oregon is and looking for two apps: one to find a good moving company for the move to Oregon and one to provide ready-made reasons to offer the spouse for needing to move to Oregon all of a sudden
Maybe it's just me, but $2 for this app? I'm surprised it's not free. Usually an app like this is just being used to advertise, not to make money….
Woah there. This isn't just an app, it is a Guinness app. Nah, just joking – I agree, this is a promo app and really should be a free one. Maybe if they don't charge for it, it'll become legal in Texas right???
