Dungeon Hunter for iPhone looks amazing!

I’ve been told I have pretty lofty expectations when it comes to gaming. Anyway, on a totally unrelated note, Gameloft recently released a Diablo-esque game called Dungeon Hunter and it looks pretty bloody cool.  Almost all of these kinds of games (i.e. action RPGs) feature a set of different classes, a set of different skills, and a wealth of monsters to kill in order to gain levels, but it’s tough me feel like in the thick of things. That doesn’t look like it’s the case with Dungeon Hunter (based on this and other YouTube videos).

First of all, whenever melee attacks and spells connect, you hear some sort of satisfying damaging sound. A good start, but here’s the cool part: enemies react visually to your attacks, too. It doesn’t sound like a big deal, but there are so many games where enemies stand completely still when you hit them. Yeah, right. Try getting hit with a war maul and see if you can keep a straight face — if you even have a face left. The only minor worry that I have is that there won’t be enough enemies on-screen due to iPhone memory limitations, but I’d have to actually play the game to find out.

If you’re interested, Dungeon Hunter is available right now for $6.99 on the App Store, and it definitely looks like one of the more premium gaming experiences we’ve been waiting for!
