Sorting iPhone Apps By Color

Red Page
How do you sort your iPhone apps? Some sort them by category (games, utilities, entertainment), some sort them by most used, (most used application at the front page, least used at the end) and some sort alphabetically. What ever way you do sort them, it should make your iPhone feel organized. I have found the best way to sort my iPhone apps actually has nothing to do with what the app does, but its icon. I sort my iPhone apps by the color of its icon. Red icons on one page, Blue on the next, etc.

Blue Page
To me, organizing apps like this makes the iPhone look a lot nicer. It may not make finding apps much easier, but the whole idea of finding apps is a little obsolete, now that the iPhone has spotlight. Also, it is very easy to set this up, due to the new app organization tool iTunes. If you have a lot of apps and don’t necessarily love the way you organize them, definitely try this out.

I never thought about organizing them by color before…. It looks really nice when you sort them that way. I tend to sort my apps by function. The 1st & 2nd page are stock apps / news / weather & social networking. The 3rd to 5th page is all utility apps like: Convertbot / IGN / G-Park / Tipstar….etc. My final 2 pages consist of games. Nice article!
Using just two Screens, first screen the most used. Second one made up by Categories like ie “Travel” or “Games” (mine is a jailbroken one and the “folders” you get with and Settings/App Store/Cydia.
Bottom ones on the first screen are the ones that need syncing, ie RSS (Byline) and Twitter.
I love the idea of categories, but for me, it is not implemented well enough to use. It needs to open faster and work as if its another springboard. For example, the icons should be movable just like on your home screen. I would love to see more work on it.
Same here – tried Categories, never liked it a whole bunch. Feel like Stacks has good potential in this sort of area.
That's how I organize them. Categories is one of the best applications! Cant stand too many pages.

As I now approach 9 pages, I often thought that future OS upgrades should an adaptable way to organize with labels that opened page(s) based on those labels or categories. After all, it's sorted in the App Store (productivity, games, utilities, etc.).
maybe itunes 9.1
This seems like a bad idea as icons should be “iconic” and easily recognizable. If each application was a blue circle, how in the world would I easily determine which app was which?
Shape, color, and form in icons should really be used for functional, and not decorative, means.
I always use the reset home screen option to make it all alphabetical. Then I move compass and voice memo over to the second screen, leaving a 2.0 home screen that I have memorized to the touch (without looking). Spotlight launches all my apps.

I tried organizing by color and determined that it was not conducive to how I used the device. I do however, try to group same color icons together on each screen. I sort by most used on the first page and have SpringBoard to jump to other categories.
I sorted my icons by color a few weeks ago without intending to leave it that way, but it's worked out really well. I'm a pretty visual person, though, and it really looks so much nicer. It's nice to know I'm not the only one out there who thought to do it

I have my most used on the first page and use search for everything else. I refuse to reorganize every time I download a new app.
