Featured iPhone Theme: Illumine

[You'll need to be jailbroken to use this theme. Download it through Cydia]

Hang onto your socks, turn out the lights, and witness Illumine. I’m actually not using the theme alone, but the screenshots I’ve included in the experimental gallery are all pure, accept-no-substitutes Illumine. The theme features a gorgeous matted icon art, smaller and more rounded icons, and a slightly softer palette compared to the default iPhone. I like the effect because it makes the home screen feel a little less busy, but it still plays pretty nicely with un-skinned icons. I’m also using the Weathericon and SBSettings skins. I downloaded the SMS skin just to show it off, but I’m not really a fan — I’ve got another theme for that (Matte Graphite).

Hit the jump for more screenies (click on a thumbnail for a bigger preview)! Also, please let me know whether or not you’d like to see this gallery style again.

  1. my favorite by far. i use it for some time now

  2. I'm hooked. This has finally gotten me off of the theme i've been using for the last few months! Good find! Question though, the sbsettings theme for this is nowhere to be found in my cydia packages! Where'd ya grab yours?

I’d also like to know about sbsettings them e. Also what wallpaper is that- it’s different than the one that came with my Illumine

Thanks for the info on the bosspaper pack you are using, I was wondering that myself.

I tried a few of the glassy themes after jailbreaking my 3GS, Glasklart, Gruppled and Vivid, and while they were nice, I wanted to retain the colours to differentiate my icons. While Gruppled has a big icon pack, they can't cover everything. Then I cam across illumine which gives every icon a unique look and I have been using it now as my only theme for a while.

One other thing to note is that the small icons makes it perfect for use with Fivelrows – the five row springboard app.

Just updated the Illumine theme to 1.6.3 via Cydia, but now i have lost all the Illumine extras in Winter Board like Illumine DialPad and SMS. Is there anyway to get them back? Im on a 3GS Blackra1n jailbroken.

Is there any way to update the icon size for the icons that Illumine doesn’t have? I wouldn’t mind keeping them the same as long as they were the same size as all the others.

Not without image files of your own. If you take a look at that forum link just above, though, you can probably find the icons you're looking for or ask for them. That's the drawback of themes…you'll need all or most of your icons supported, or they look a little funky.

I can’t post on that forum sinse thay aren’t accepting new members at the moment. Just upgraded to 1.6.4, but the Illumine extras are still missing.

why isn’t there a great lockscreen that makes the slider with a underglow like illumine has. or is there one i don’t know about?
