CoPilot

In an attempt to improve on an already incredible app, the folks over at ALK Technologies released a notable update to their popular navigation software CoPilot Live. The new version was released a few days ago, and as usual the developers have listened to their customers, adding a huge new feature – access to your iPod controls from within the app.

You will remember we reviewed CoPilot when it first came out and had only compliments for the reasonably priced, feature-loaded navigation app for the iPhone. With the last 2 updates, it now has every new feature we wanted, including some we didn’t even know were possible.

  1. While the updates look good, this is the worst app I have ever used. It cost $35 and it crashed (kicked me out of the app) multiple times while I drive around. I shot a funny video while driving where I cursed the thing. In reading around I only found a few people that mentioned this so I guess I’m just one of the lucky ones.

Worked fine for me. The app is quite complete, although Navigon is maybe a bit more complete on information during the trip. But for the price, it's a great app, much better than TomTom for example. Just hope that next release will fix the import of custom POIs.

I am surprised you've experienced that as I've never heard of that issue from a number of people I know who are using the software.

Have you installed both of the updates ? The last one dealt with some stability issues (as per the release notes).
If you're having similar problems with other apps, it might be due to low available memory and a reset might do the trick.

If neither of these help, I would suggest firing off an email to the developers to see if its something they have come across.
