Apple Files Suit Against "Knock- Off" Power Adapter Manufacturer

Apple-45W-MagSafe-Power-Adapter-for-MacBook-Air.jpgInformationWeek is reporting that Apple has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against a small company located in Anaheim, California which is selling “knock-off” power adapters that are compatible with both MacBook and MacBook Pro. Apple is claiming this company is infringing on a patent Apple filed in 2001 regarding notebook power supplies.

Apple’s complaint charges that Media Solutions Holdings, through the Web sites www.laptopsforless.com, www.laptopacadapter.com and www.ereplacements.com, sells “various consumer electronic accessories at retail, including knock-off power adapters for use with genuine Apple portable computers.”

“Through various Web sites and otherwise, the Defendants market these knock-off power adapters for use with Apple portable computers, such as the MacBook,” the complaint states.

The power adapters being sold through this company have since been removed from the site. The site can still be found here however.
