Little bit of link, little bit of love: Gear Diary previews Dragon dictation app for iPhone

Dan Cohen over at Gear Diary has been testing a dictation app for over a month now and it seems like he’s pretty happy with it:

Seriously. It is almost like the application is performing a magic trick “ the transcription is that accurate. (In fact, I ‘m recording this entire post using the application on my iPhone while I ‘m out and about today.)

I was really fascinated at first. Sure, official apps can’t run in the background and so you’ve got to load the dictation app up, dictate, and then export or copy the text to where its needed, but it still sounds neat. Then I learned that the name of the software is Dragon, and now I’m just scared to try it. Seriously. I just played Dragon Age: Origins on the PC and I’ve posted a picture of one of the beasts at the top of this post and, well, have you seen the thing?!

Dan might be brave enough to dictate to a Dragon over on Gear Diary, but I’m going to stay away from telling fire-breathing serpents what to do (or maybe I’ve been gaming too much…). I think I’ll go hang out with the Evernote Elephant instead.

The Dragon Dictation ap works very well but I wish I could speak numbers into the phone when I have menus. It still takes awhile for me to find the numbers. I’m blind and LOVE a phone which allows me to do everything everyone else can do.
