MobileNavigator, the turn-by-turn navigation app for the iPhone from Navigon, has just been updated to version 1.4, which adds several new features and performance improvements. In addition, Navigon has also dropped the price for MobileNavigator North America (iTunes link) to only $59.99 until January 11, 2010.

If you’ve been holding off buying MobileNavigator due to the price, now’s a great time to pick it up at a $40 savings! I’ve been a Navigon user for several months now, and I can say that the app is definitely worth the $99.99 price, especially with the TrafficLive feature, and this promotion makes it even sweeter!

Navigon has included the following new features in the 1.4 update:

  • Enhanced Pedestrian Navigation
  • Google Local Search
  • Coordinate Input
  • SOS/DirectHelp
  • Turn-by-Turn RouteList
  • Manual zooming in 2D and 3D while navigating
  • Favorites are being displaying in the map
  • Country info when crossing borders
  • Switch between “music” and “audiobook” mode for iPod playback
  • Phonebook contacts can now be selected as interim destinations
  • Using contact groups in the phonebook is now possible
  • Faster start-up time
  • Traffic messages can be easily browsed by sliding the screens

I can attest to the faster start up time. On my 32GB 3GS, MobileNavigator 1.4 starts up 3-5 seconds faster than it did before the update. And this is on a jailbroken device with several other things running in the background. I’m sure on a non-jailbroken device it’s even faster.

MobileNavigator 1.4 is a free update for all current owners. If you haven’t yet purchased it, you can find Navigon MobileNavigator North America in the iPhone App Store here, for only $59.99. Note that the discounted price is only for the North America version, which includes NAVTEQ maps for the United States and Canada, Puerto Rico & Virgin Islands.

  1. If the TrafficLive feature is included, this is a deal, if its $25 extra than this is virtually the exact same deal as last month (assuming you buy US version + TrafficLive). So, is it a deal, or marketing wizardry? Note: Even if its $85 for everything it could still be considered a “deal”, but you know what I mean.

Anyone got any experience with using it in Europe?
