Link Love: MacGasm’s three favourite iPhone game devs

The three names mentioned over at MacGasm are the Kieffer Bros, Craneballs Studio, and Critical Thought Games. I haven’t played any of the games from the latter two developers, but all three have something in common — they make gorgeous iPhone games. Craneballs made a game called Blimp that I wanted to try out – but I missed the Appvent Calendar day that offered it for free due to a credit card problem. Critical Thought makes the excellent TD Geo games, such as GeoSwarm and GeoDefense.

As for my favourites, I’d have to agree with the Kieffer Bros nomination, but I’d tip my hat to the Minigore developer Mountain Sheep (JAiB reader Frank would agree), as well as Canabalt developer Semi Secret Software. I’ve really enjoyed the titles coming out of Gameloft as of late, but I also can’t help but feel that they’re the EA of mobile games: quite entertaining for the most part, but still mass produced. I know that’s silly to say considering that EA Mobile also exists on the iPhone market, but I’m sure you get the picture. There’s something about the titles from my favourite three devs that makes their games feel crafted – like they came from a forge instead of a factory – and I really like the indie game quality they possess.

  1. I'd consider adding the devs of Robocalypse. It's an addicting game, cartoon-style & hilarious. I don't know if they have developed other games, but who cares, Robocalyspe is amazing.

  2. The minigore team came in fourth for me. I love that game. I haven't heard of the Canabalt team, I'm gonna have to check them out. :)
