QuickLook: LockInfo for iPhone (Cydia – Jailbreak)

Some time ago LockInfo went out of beta  and now it’s been released in Cydia as a stable app. I tried it early this year and was amused by the power of the app, so I decided to give this release a try to see how it works now.

LockInfo is an app that adds some information to your lockscreen like calendar events, unread texts, missed calls and so on. I firmly believe the iPhone should be this way by default, but, unfortunately,  I’m not Steve Jobs so I can only hope for new firmware releases.

The information is grouped so if you don’t have any unread text nothing will show up, but if you have many texts waiting for you then LockInfo shows them all — all you have to do is scroll. What if you don’t like to have to scroll or you just want a quickly overview of what you have missed? You can set it to show, for example, a maximum of three texts/calls/anything.

This is what I love more of Lockinfo: it’s completely customizable. You can set any preference and they cover all the available functions. Even the art-stuff is customizable, you have plenty of themes available at MacThemes, or you can do your own. Take a look at this version of LockInfo, with the Gruppled Theme on:

You also can install plugins that add even more options of what can be shown: there’s a Twitter plugin, a Push Notifications plugin and many others. Let me say that the Push Notifications is amazing. If you have installed an app like Boxcar, LockInfo show the notifications in your lockscreen so you don’t have to open the app. You just dim the screen and see all of them. The first screenshot at the top of the post is taken from my iphone with the plugin on, you can look at it to get an idea.

To get LockInfo you have to add David Ashman‘s repository (http://david.ashman.com/beta/). It costs 4.99$ , ~ 4€. You can try it for free for 14 days. I really recommend this app, and think it’s worth every single penny you spend on it.

Agreed. It's a solid app and fully customizable. It even blocks pop-ups windows to keep down the clutter. Worth twice the price.

Does it have the ability to customize the size and color of the fonts? I've been using LockCalendar for a long time and it does a great job at showing my calendar info with my own custom colors and sizes.

  3. I'm trying out the demo and I like it thus far. My only issue is that my lockscreen only displays for a few seconds then goes away. Is there any way to configure my lockscreen to display for ~10 seconds or so in order for me to digest all the info that this app is showing me?

A clumsy workaround suggestion, and one you've probably already thought of, but just for grins: when I want the lock screen to sick around a bit longer I just slide the unlock bar just a wee bit to the right and press and hold, then maybe back a bit to the left – just to keep it paused a tad longer.

Lame I know – but I don't know a setting to keep it there longer.

    • Install Lockscreen Dim Delay Control.
"This program allows you to drag a slider to set how long your lockscreen stays illuminated – from 1 to 60 seconds."
It's developed by David Ashman, same author of Lockinfo.

I wonder why he didn't included it as a setting in LockInfo.

  4. hehehe, that's the same thing I've been doing. It actually works alright but I'd prefer to configure it via a setting. Maybe there's a jailbreak app for that?

I’m jailbroken now, and in times past I’ve seen these applications. But, one has to wonder, if ‘this’ info is readily available, and the device is locked, surely that’s not a good thing, right? I guess this is the I.T. guy in me speaking…

I know most of us don’t let our devices out of our sights, but…

    • Well, it's up to you. I don't usually let other people touch my iphone if I'm not next to them so privacy is not really an issue. But if you care, don't install it. Or better, install it but turn push alterts off when your iphone is not in sight

Incompatible with mQuickDo's lock screen shortcuts?
