Infinidock – Lets You Customize the iPhone Dock, Add More Apps To It [jailbreak apps]

Infinidock jailbreak app

Infinidock is a brand new jailbreak app for customizing the iPhone dock.  It lets you add more than four icons to it (up to nine icons), and make it scrollable.

The app is from chpwn, one of the developers of the superb ProSwitcher multi-tasking app that all of us who are jailbroken here at JAiB count as one of our top, favorite apps.

As you ‘d probably expect, there ‘s not much to this app.  It just does what it says on the box, and it works well.

I tried out six icons and above on my dock, and for now six feels like the number I ‘m most comfortable with.  Seven and upwards felt a little messy, for lack of a better word.

Adding and removing apps to the dock with Infinidock installed is the same as always “ just drag and drop them when you ‘ve gone into ‘wiggly icon ‘ mode as when you want to uninstall or re-arrange apps.

In my case, I had to turn off PogoPlank in order to add items to the dock.  This is not a big deal, as it ‘s not something I ‘ll be doing very often “ and I can remove dock items with PogoPlank on.

You setup your Infinidock preferences within the main Settings app.

There are only two things to set so far “ the number of icons per page (how many icons on dock), and whether or not the dock is scrollable.

Infinidock adds more dock icons

Infinidock looks like another keeper for me, adding a very handy bit of extended functionality to the iPhone dock.  Now I just need to work out my ideal mix of which apps to keep in the dock, which to place in the QuickDo favorites bar, and which to keep backgrounded in ProSwitcher.

That ‘s definitely a case of some very good jailbreak apps presenting me with the sort of problem that ‘s good to have.

Have you tried out Infinidock yet?  If so, what are your thoughts on it?  Please let us know in the comments.

  1. I follow chpwn and Frank on twitter. He said he was putting it on cydia last night. I bought it last night and love it! I have so much screen real estate open right now!! Time to find some new cool wallpapers!! lol

I'm running it and I have to say that chpwn (and rpetrich) are doing some amazing stuff with the iPhone springboard.
Infinidock basically works as it should and I would say Apple should pay these guys (for ProSwitcher and Infinidock) and include these features on 4.0

What's interesting is that I don't feel the need to run Stack anymore, since I can have probably 30 icons on my dock and scroll around them (i have 8 for the moment, and have set it to show only 5 ).

Sometimes it's "little" hacks like these that at first seem just eye-candy but slowly you start to ask yourself how you've managed to use/run your iPhone without these.

I really like Infinidock. I have it set to 5 and I have 10 total in my dock now. I just scroll the dock to my second set of 5. very cool. I tried 6 with 12 total in my dock, but it was a little too crowded for my taste.

I am using it with Pogoplank, Quickdo and Proswitcher. Very, very nice. The jailbreak devs are certainly making iphone life much more interesting.

chpwn says an update is coming with some nice extras: options for making the icons slide into place so they're not halfway off the screen, etc. He's @chpwn on Twitter.

  8. PatrickJ says:

@David – have you looked for the update for it, the one released yesterday? That should get it running fine with 4.3.1.

  9. Val says:
