Yikes, iPhone really becoming an amazing mobile gaming console [iPhone Applications]

X Games Snocross was one of the iPhone games that was showcased at the Apple iPad event that really caught my eye. The graphics are probably comparable to some titles on the Playstation 2. It’s at least on par with the better looking Sony PSP games, and it only costs five dollars (PSP titles are $20 and up, usually). I haven’t played the game myself, but I have looked up a few reviews, screenshots, and videos, and the game really does look incredible. I think developers are really hitting their stride on the iPhone, and it’s amazing what kind of games are being delivered over-the-air to users for $10 or less.

I suppose I don’t really have much to say in this post, except to remark that the iPhone is becoming a respectable enough gaming platform that I haven’t even felt the need use my PSP or DS – at least not in the last six months. I still play bigger, more epic titles on my PC, but I’ve found that my iPhone is more than enough for those moments when I’m not at a computer (which is very rarely). Heck, I’m readying a review of GTA: Chinatown Wars ($10), and that was initially released on the Nintendo DS (probably $40). I might just sell my PSP and DS off..
