Apple software is allowed to multitask. That’s why you get SMS messages, while you are typing an email, while listening to music, and can receive a phone call.

If you jailbreak your eye phone and install an app to view processes, you’ll see the iPod, Phone, Mail and Safari apps running together almost all the time. the only time you won’t see safari and iPod running is if you have not launched those apps after a hard reboot.

Multitasking exists where apple wants it to. THey haven’t figured out how to let the OS control software they have no control over – thus, their mantra of ‘no multitasking’
