the 3G and 2G don't seem to take jailbreaking very well. They both tend to slow down. The 3GS seems to be the only device (aside from a 3rd gen iTouch, maybe) that can "handle" jailbreaking without breaking a sweat.

My jailbroken iPhone 3G has just seemed very sluggish lately. And I've been pulling things off piece-meal, but it's not working. Time for a refresh (once 3.1.3 is jailbroken).

hey Ryan,

nope I hadn't tried that at all. I was just kinda messing around with the system files with the knowledge that I could just reset the phone if I messed anything up too badly. I actually have no clue about where the apps keep all their data or how to change file write permissions. I barely understand that on Windows 😛

you can simply press restore in iTunes as long as you're on the network your iPhone was purchased on. That will reset the iPhone to the most recent firmware.

The other way to do it is described here: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=10

I created a "Favourites" playlist with all the 4/5 stars songs (these are the tracks that I always want to be able to listen to), and a "Recent Played" smart playlist with only the tracks that I've listened in the last month.
This way I saved something like 4gigs. Ok, sometimes I wish I had that specific song, but I can live with that. If I really want to listen to it I can always go to youtube or sync the iphone as soon as I get home.

no problems with both stores installed, nope. Rock even has a LOT of the Cydia repositories by default, as well as its own special Rock store. So like I said – I just use Cydia for initial purchases since Cydia gets most apps first (Overboard, SnowCover Pro, etc.) and then I use Rock to manage everything that's bought.

I also appreciate all the work Saurik does but using Cydia is a pain.
