Redsn0w Can Jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.3, on Some iPhones and iPod Touches

iPhone jailbreak

The Dev Team has some good news for some iPhone and iPod Touch users who want to update to iPhone OS 3.1.3 and keep their jailbreak.  It looks like their latest redsn0w jailbreak app release is still safe to use with firmware 3.1.3 on certain older models.  Here ‘s the summary, provided by the guys at iPhone in Canada:

The iPhone 2G and iPod Touch 1G are safe on firmware 3.1.3 using redsn0w 0.9.
The iPhone 3G is safe on firmware 3.1.3 using redsn0w 0.9 BUT only if you do not care about unlocking your iPhone 3G.
The iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G, and iPod Touch 3G are NOT safe on firmware 3.1.3. Stay with 3.1.2 if you want to be able to jailbreak and/or unlock your device in the future.

The Dev Team is also stressing the following: Don ‘t go near this if you have 3GS, newer ipt2G, or any ipt3G. For all the details, see the Dev Team blog site:

Some sites are reporting that it is possible to upgrade to 3.13 in a 3GS using "Snowbreeze" to create a custom IPSW and then restoring. I am too chicken to try it out and am waiting for some brave soul to report whether it really works.

    • Yeah, I've noticed that too – but sn0wbreeze is brand new and I'm not hearing many positive reports about results with it so far.
