But all that is about to change. AT&T announced Thursday morning that it will now allow the SlingPlayer iPhone app to stream live over its 3G network.
‘Since mid-December 2009, AT&T has been testing the app and has recently notified Sling Media ” as well as Apple ” that the optimized app can run on its 3G network, ‘ said the carrier in a press release.
AT&T has reversed their decision that previously limited the SlingPlayer Mobile iPhone app to streaming only over WiFi connections “ following complaints from Sling and others to the FCC.
This should be very good news for Slingbox owning iPhone users. More good news “ the update to the app is already with Apple for approval and it ‘s a free update for those who already own the app.
Is AT&T ‘s network ready to handle SlingPlayer? Is Luke Wilson already filming a new commercial to explain why his SlingPlayer map is not really so bad?
