Here’s the beginning of an email that I received not too long ago: “Hi Thomas, Drunk and need a cab? Now there’s an App for that.”
Actually, I’m quite sober and can walk myself home just fine, thank you very much. I don’t need your taxi finding directory because I already know the cab companies in my city (though this could make sense for travel), but you can be sure that even if I were to use your free Miller Lite app to call for a ride home, I would never, ever use the in-app picture of a pint of beer to signal my location like you recommend in your press release.
Not only would I not want everyone else to know how inebriated I am at that point, but waving my $200 smartphone in the air like a moron is about the last thing I’d do to signal my precise location to my cab driver or other people on the street looking for a free iPhone. Besides, I’m a lightweight and I’d probably fall asleep at my booth in the bar long before I’d need to take a vomit comet home.
Thanks but no thanks, Miller Lite Taxi Cab Finder. *hic* Whoops. Excuse me.
