Sprintboard: free minimalist iPhone mod for quickly selecting a home screen [Jailbreak Apps]

Here’s a free jailbreak mod you might want to check out if you’re tired of swiping through one home screen at a time. Sprintboard lets you swipe over the dotted area (right above your dock icons) to skip to any home screen you want. As developer Zmaster states, it’s a lot like the alphabet bar within your iPod or Contacts app: sliding your finger over the home screen dots will cycle through your springboard pages, and letting go of the screen will select one.

I haven’t exactly put it through a battery of tests, but I have used the app to skip through my whopping four home screens and the mod worked as expected. The home screen you skip to is based on which dot your finger is pressing on, so if you only have a few home you won’t have to move your thumb very far, but someone like Patrick with 11 home screens will have to swipe in a fashion similar to the “slide to unlock” on the lock screen to get to the last page.

I doubt I’ll be using Sprintboard to replace Overboard because it just lacks the cool zooming animation and sound effect that I’ve come to love, but for jailbreakers looking for a minimalist way to navigate your springboard, Sprintboard might be it. You can download it now through Cydia or Rock.
