Apple Releases Update Fixing Mac Pro Heat and Performance Issues

macpro.jpgApple has released Mac Pro Audio Update 1.0 to the public. The update addresses heat and performance issues being seen by some Nehalem-based (Early 2009) Mac Pros when performing audio processing tasks.

This update is for Mac Pro (Early 2009) computers running Mac OS X v10.6.2. This update reduces processor utilization during audio activities, such as playing or recording music.

The update is a meager 1.64MB in size, and requires users to be running Mac OS X 10.6.2. You can read the full details here.

As we reported earlier, this issues was experienced under Mac OS X 1.5 and 10.6, but when a user would boot their Mac Pro under Windows via boot camp, the problem would go away. Apple support had told customs that this phenomenon was within expected performance tolerances.
