Last night I spotted a small difference in the way that my Google searches were appearing within Safari. It’s not that the results were better, but I could have sworn that the search bar was a little bigger and easier to use.
The Official Google Mobile Blog later verified my theory with their post about how they had optimized the search bar, maximizing the room for text, and shoving the Google logo into the top bar beside Gmail, Buzz, and all the other Google-y service links. It’s a pretty small change overall, but it does make erasing and starting new searches much easier than before, and it feels much more like a native iPhone app than an optimized web page.
