I thought the same thing – and I agree it's smarter to do the sign-up form at a later date, but since every single iTunes song purchase counts as a registration and people seem to be buying music regardless of $10k gift prizes, then it makes sense to just buy a few more songs now rather than space it out over the next month or so. In fact, I could imagine sales volumes going up because of this contest, with people kinda rushing the number towards 10B.
