AppLoot is a very new website offering a free iPhone app each day, very much like the FreeAppaDay site we posted about back in January. Well, there’s probably no such thing as too many free app sites to know about, so I gave AppLoot a little look after receiving a promo mail from the today.
The site has only been around for a few days, so it’s hard to say much other than yes they offer a new free app each day. Most of the apps they’ve had so far seem very much in the novelty category, but hey for free that’s not a big knock. I’m not sure how many codes are available for the featured app each day, but when I visited today there were a dozen available for the Volt app.
Grabbing a free code is easy. There’s no need to have an account or register or anything like that. You just quickly fill in a short verification code (presumably to defeat bots and such like) and you’re presented with your promo code to redeem in the App Store.
Here’s a quick slice of the App Store description for today’s free app, Volt:
Volt is a very simple app that has only one function and that is to make you go, "WOW." The app is based around a sphere in the middle of the screen that is energized. When you touch the screen, bolts of electricity shoot out to your finger tips. You can use multiple fingers and move them around the screen.
It’s actually quite a nice little novelty app. Not one you’re likely to keep around for long but it’s got some appeal, especially if you’ve got younger kids who may get good mileage out of it.
The AppLoot site doesn’t appear to have an iPhone optimized version of the site out as yet, but the full site seems to work OK in Mobile Safari.
