This is one of my favorite times of the year. Spring is kicking into gear, the weather’s getting warmer, and baseball season is getting underway. Last night brought more good spring-time news – MLB.com At Bat 2010 hit the iPhone App Store.
Ever since the very early days of the App Store MLB At Bat has been one of the very best sports apps available for the iPhone – and it has kept improving and offering more and more features as its gone along.
This new version is already looking very good – even now with spring training barely underway – and is packed with even more features than it was in its 2009 edition.
Here’s some more info on its familiar and new features, from its App Store description page:
With MLB.com At Bat 2010 you can:
– Listen LIVE to every Regular Season and Postseason game
– Watch LIVE streaming games (blackout restrictions apply)
– Follow every pitch with MLB.com Gameday
– View up to the minute box scores and player stats
– Watch in-game highlights and Condensed Games
– Get Push NotificationsNew for 2010, At Bat has been enhanced with expanded baseball coverage including:
– Spring Training statistics, LIVE audio and LIVE video (mid-March)
– Breaking league and team news
– Schedules, rosters and player stats for every team
– Video library searchable by player and team
– Enhanced LIVE game video (Regular Season)
– Home/Away broadcast feed selection (Regular Season)
– Background audio playback
– Additional enhancements to come during 2010 season
I spent some time with the app last night – expecting to be bored fairly quickly because the real season hasn’t started yet, but finding that the app still has lots to offer even in pre-season. Here are a few examples of that:
Although spring training games have only just begun, there is already a short list of highlight videos available
And there’s already a great home run swing in one of those
There’s News from around the league
And for individual teams
Player profiles
Schedules for both spring training and the real season
And plenty more. Spending time with MLB At Bat 2010 was like meeting up with an old friend. It was also a great reminder that spring is here and baseball is back – and those are both great things.
You can find MLB At Bat 2010 in the App Store now, priced at $14.99.
