Hey I had to get my phone replaced and didn't back up the legitimate version. Can I get the app store version from someone. I would do the one from cydia but my baseband doesn't allow me to jailbreak.

Doesn't seem like something I need but interesting none the less

I deleted the Apple App store version (that worked) and the cydia version started working. Seems it only logs OPEN wireless networks to the community database.

While the jailbroken version of the app does not seem to be detecting wireless networks (that are definitely in range), I realised I still have the original app store version installed (haven't synced for a while). Oops! I'm loathe to remove the app store one (that works) just in case the JB version still doesn't.

iGnome, This app allows you to see a graphical representation of whether the wireless network is getting closer to you (as you move), further away, or the same distance. It allows you to log lots of things about the AP like signal strength, encryption, gps location, and plot it on google maps. You can save this, email it on, etc. I've probably left heaps out. So yes this is all stuff that you could possibly find out without the app, but who wants to spend all that time writing it down? It's handy if you administer wireless networks with hidden ssids etc.

My I phone will already find wifi networks. I'm asumming that maybe this app will find extra ones with the ssid hidden but surely anyone with enough cop on to hide an ssid will have password protected their network? So leaving aside ethics of piggybacking what does this do for me that the iPhone can't do already.?Thanks and sorry if it's a daft question.

I have a wireless network here in the office and it does not show up on the radar. Any thoughts ? Is there something I'm missing ?

The best part is I have noticed a tab that shows nearby hotspots collected by other wififofum users.

Under what conditions are these APs logged to the database on the www?
