iDouken! Street Fighter IV is now available on your iPhone

Posted on 10 Mar 2010 by Thomas

The folks who are lucky enough to be over at the Game Developers Conference got to see Street Fighter IV first-hand last night, just moments before it was released to the App Store public. I’ve been hearing various things about the title: TUAW thinks it’s a bit too unwieldy, but Shacknews seems to think the controls are decent. However, the consensus seems to be that $9.99 title is an extremely high quality port of the ridiculously popular Capcom arcade fighter, with eight playable characters, seven arenas, a dojo practice mode, and bluetooth multiplayer support.

Have any of you folks snapped this one up overnight? Or are you hesitant about trying to pull off complicated combos on a 3.5″ touchscreen?

  1. I will wait for a reduced price. $9.99 is way too much for this type of game. For me Street Fighter is only fun to play with someone next to you so until someone I know gets it, I won't be buying it anytime soon. The controls look like they take up most of the screen so I am not too sure about this. Maybe the iPad version will be better.

  2. Being a self-proclaimed SF master and fan i'd been waiting for this since reading about it a while back. I picked it up today and I honestly have to say, this game does justice to the long running series!! It has some of the best graphocs i've seen on the iPhone hands-down. The animations are smooth, and the control scheme is actually very responsive. Like Frank mentioned the controls do take up a larger than desirable amount of screen real estate, but Capcom did a great job of keeping your character in view. I was able to test out the bluetooth only multiplayer mode today, and it was just as stable as playing single player. No lag or other issues(unlike my PS3 online matches!). My one complaint is with the choice of only 8 characters unlike the the version of Street Fighter 4 for consoles and arcade. If Apple will allow games of sizes in excess of 900mb(a la Myst), then Capcom, don't short change us!!
