27-Inch LED Cinema Display, Mac Pro Update Coming by June?

AppleInsider is reporting that Apple is planning to release a 27-Inch LED Cinema Display and a Mac Pro refresh by June. The 27-Inch Cinema Display is said to look very similar to Apple’s current 24-inch Cinema Display that was released in October of 2008.

Two people familiar with the upcoming display say its been lingering in Apple’s labs for quite sometime, where it’s frequently referenced by the unique identifier/codename “K59.” The Mac maker is believed to have been waiting patiently for the cost of the larger LCD panels, which sport a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels, to shed some of their premium before introducing the model to market.

The Mac Pro is said to have Intel’s Xeon 5600 series processors. The Mac Pro is due for a refresh, and there have been other rumors suggesting an imminent release.

Let’s hope they drop the prices. Currently Apple’s 30-Inch Cinema Display costs more than most of the iMac line. That said, Apple has always (needlessly) charged more for their displays.
