WTF iPhone Apps: Palm OS Is Dead, So Let’s Run It on the iPhone?

There are plenty of apps that make your iPhone look very cool and that are lots of fun to show off to your friends.  Here’s one that’ll come in handy if you’re going for the opposite effect. StyleTap is a jailbreak app that brings the ability to run Palm OS apps on the iPhone.

Just typing that last sentence makes me want to scream WHAT?  Palm OS was an outdated dinsosaur of an OS for years and now it’s dead, not even used by Palm anymore.  So now we need an emulator to bring its ancient apps to the iPhone?  I mean seriously – what?  And who???  Who wants this?

To my mind most Palm apps looked dated even compared to Windows Mobile apps.  And they’re built for screens a fraction of the size of the iPhone.  Anyway, if you’d like to give your iPhone a big dose of ugly, you can find StyleTap in the Cydia app store. I’d love to hear the reasons why anyone wants to do this. :)

"A big does of ugly"…. best quote ever.

For $50, I'd just assume bust out my Treo 700p.

  3. I can imagine there's a good business use for it. I mean think about it, there's companies out there that still use DOS. When was the last time any of us used DOS?

I guess the point here is there's likely quite a few companies out there that spent millions on a software platform that interacts with Palm based software… and maybe they can't afford to replace it yet.
