Best Seller Prices in iBookstore Back Up to $12.99?

Late last week App Advice reported that the forthcoming iPad’s iBookstore had New York Times best sellers priced at $9.99, the same price point as Amazon. Well now it appears the prices have been bumped to $12.99.

This sudden change is extremely intriguing. Is Apple using this to figure out where the leak is coming from? Did Amazon react to our announcement and pressured publishers to rise the prices? We don’t know. It also remains to be seen if these price changes are just temporary of definitive.

It appears that Apple’s plans for the iBookstore are still unsettled with less than a week left before the launch of both the iPad and the store.

What gets me about these reports is that they are all speculative. We won’t know the pricing for sure until April 3rd.
