iPad Touch Panel Shortages Continue, Apple Moves Orders From TPK to Wintek

DigiTimes is reporting that one of Apple’s touch panel supplier TPK Touch Solutions, has been experiencing delayed shipments. Apple in turn has shifted some of their orders to their other touch panel supplier, Wintek.

Taiwan-based TPK Touch Solutions has seen Apple shift orders for iPad-use projected capacitive touch panels to fellow maker Wintek because of TPK’s delayed shipments, according to industry sources in Taiwan.

This is the second report we’ve seen in recent days that claims the touch panels are the reason for iPad production delays. Regardless, I’ll wager that Apple will have enough at launch for “walk-in” customers to pick one up without a pre-order. Only speculation though.
