Can I still sync through iTunes? I needed to jailbreak it to unlock it (phone carrier),I want to continue using iTunes and Apps. When trying to sync iTunes is asking me to restore the iPhone / would that affect the unlock / jailbreak? should I keep the same iPhone name? Thanks!

Restarting the MBP doesn't help. Restarting the iPhone doesn't help. Reinstalling iTunes works. Until it breaks again.

It says its syncing then nothing the playlists are the exact same. Is this a glitch from the jailbreak and can it be fixed with ease?

I have a factory unlocked & jailbroken iPhone 3G using Blackra1n. When I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard (I waited to make sure any bugs and issues were fixed) I also upgraded to iTunes 9.1. At this point my iPhone stopped showing up in iTunes and I was unable to sync my iPhone with my 2.16 GHz intel Core Duo Macbook.
I then did another software update of OSX using softrware update and this fixed the issue! Good luck to anyone else with this issue!

It is deffinetly not working for me.

Running Macbook Pro, OSX 10.6.3, when I updated itunes to 9.1… I hit a problem.

Itunes cannot see my iphone. I have rebooted both my MBP and my iphone numerous times. I am running jailbroken (blackra1n) with 3.1.2 on it.

I have no idea what to do, or how to roll back to an older itunes, seeing as though just deleting the library and itunes app.. simply isn't enough.

Anyhelp? My email is paul@learn.cl

Thanks… but I am completely lost here!

SIMPLE SOLUTION TO iTunes 9.1 sync problems with Windows.
I just talked with Apple Technical Support (I have a support plan) and they explained there is a compatibility problem with some other DLL's (not from Apple).

The simple solution . . .
1. Find the LIBXML2.DLL and SQLITE3.DLL files in the Windows directory (or System or System32 subdirectories)
2. Rename them to any other name.
3. Reboot
Problem should be fixed.
(of course, until you have an application that needs LIBXML2.DLL . . . I guess someone will create a new version of the DLL that does not cause compatibility problems with iTunes 9.1)

Mark

If you are using 32bit Windows, there are corrected files at the link below. Just copy the 2 DLL files into the windows/system32 directory. I was then able to correctlt sync with Outlook 2003 asI had done before I upgraded to the new Itunes version.
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID

In two seconds everything was fixed. Just download the file he posted, unzip and then place the two files in c:/windows/system32.

No more problems and everything syncs correctly with Outlook. (my version is Outlook 2003)

I did take this carrier update with no ill effects. Not sure I'd chance it if I was unlocked and using a carrier other than the one I was supposed to be using but having said that in all my Googling I didn't find anyone complaining about carrier updates so I'm tempted to say they are safe enough.

Spent over an hour on the Apple Help line to be finally told that there is a problem with the Itunes up grade to version 9 with syncing. They say a fix is being rushed through asap, I wait with baited breath??

That's a good question, iGnome — one that lies out my very small area of expertise. Maybe someone on AT&T has applied one. Or a google search if you haven't tried or already.

My *guess* is that it should be fine. You might still want to look it up though. Must be someone else who tried it out on O2 and has posted findings.

Thanks Thomas,
I'm only jailbroken not unlocked so just wondering if you would take the carrier update under those circumstances? As far as I can make out it might improve the way the iphone connects to the 02 network which would be no bad thing
Straying off the subject here but in my experience everything about the iphone is brilliant apart from it's a rubbish phone! I live in a marginal reception area and my old Nokia can be showing 3 bars whilst my iPhone on the same network says 'no signal' (even with 3G turned off).
BTW do you know of any way to turn off the constant 'lost network' pop up windows? Because I'm in marginal reception they are constant and interrupt everything I do.. agghhh! I know I keep losing the network so please stop reminding me!
