Apple's Rumored Streaming Music Not Expected Until Q3

CNET is reporting that Apple is unlikely to have their rumored music streaming service up and running before the third quarter of this year.

Music industry sources told CNET this week Apple has informed label managers that a streaming music service is unlikely to be ready before the third quarter.

It will be a disappointment for iTunes fans who have been speculating as to when Apple might use music site Lala–which Apple acquired in December–for its streaming expertise to launch a cloud-based music service.

As we’ve reported before, it appears Apple’s acquisition of Lala Media was a move to bring iTunes content to the cloud. That said, it’s been reported that Apple will not offer a traditional music streaming service, but instead offer users the ability to upload their own libraries to the cloud and stream their own content to multiple devices.

There were also rumors that Apple is planning to bring video content to this streaming service as well. This report claims that Apple hasn’t  “done to much.” in these areas.
