Here’s more proof of that whole ‘the best camera is the one you have with you‘ theory. This is one of many excellent pictures of US Marines in Afghanistan’s Helmand province, taken with an iPhone camera by AP photographer David Guttenfelder. I spotted this great collection of images via a post from Brian Barrett at Gizmodo.
Guttenfelder brought along all of his professional equipment too, of course. But to capture those moments of daily life, he also packed his iPhone in his flak jacket pocket and ran his shots through a Polaroid film filter app. The results is a curiously intimate menagerie, a close read of life at war between the explosions.
