[in lieu of a topic-appropriate pic, here is one of my cat as an iPhone wallpaper]
Here’s a relatively simple concept: most of the JAiB team is hopelessly addicted to an internet-capable touchscreen device (no, not that one), so we thought it might be interesting to share notes about the first and last things we do on our iPhones every single day. If you’ve got your own revelatory iPhone app combination for starting or ending your day, please share it with us in the comments.

First one in the morning – Mail.app
Last App at night – Tweetie 2
Although, I have to say that that is changing starting last night. As of last night the last app I used was Sleep Cycle, and the first one was also Sleep Cycle. Pretty badass little app!

First app in the morning is probably the Gmail web app.
Last app I use is SleepCycle. It’s a tiny app that has revolutionized the way I get up in the morning.
It analyzes your movements and automagically wakes you up when you are in the light sleep, so you don’t feel tired

When I wake up in the morning I launch the mail app or check Tweetings. Now before going to bed I visit my kingdom on We Rule. I have become quite addicted to this game.

First App: Facebook. Yes I’m hooked.
Last App: Tweetdeck. Hook, line, and sinker.

For me, first thing in the morning is Mail.app, check my various mail accounts, to know how my day is going to go. I will generally spend 5 or 10 minutes scanning through my 4 mail accounts looking at various system status messages to determine how much time I have before I have to head into work. I also generally fire up Tweetie 2 for a quick scan through what’s happening, and then launch Reeder to start syncing my rss feeds while I’m getting dressed for work.
At night, the last app I usually use before tucking my iPhone in for the night is either Tweetie 2 or the SMS app. I give Twitter one last scan to see if I have any unread @replies or DMs, and then check my messages for any last minute texts before going to bed. These both happen in order, though which comes first is always a toss-up. Yes, for me, inconsistency IS consistency! 😉

First thing in the morning: Mail and the Google Reader (back to the web app lately, though sometime via NewsRack).
Last thing at night: Google Reader or a book via Kindle or other apps.

The first app of the day is usually Mail or Reeder, and I’ve started making it a habit to catch up on most of my feeds and star all of the interesting items before I even get out of bed. That means I’m usually ready to throw posts up the moment I wake the MacBook up.
The last app of the day is usually Ego, Articles, or a couple of rounds of Eliminate Pro. That means I either go to bed feeling amazing, a little smarter, or with shaky hands from an adrenaline rush.
