Now which one do you use? Live or Media? $5 diff between the two…

I love Orb too: I listen to book-on-CD's that I've burned as mp3s from my home station. It does "drop" a lengthy audio if on 3G instead of Wifi though…

Hey, that's a great point — I should really get back on the Orbit bandwagon. Danke Raketemensch!

90% of the time I fall asleep watching video on Orb. I have a fileserver in the basement full of tv shows and movies, and Orb transcodes them all for my iPhone. Basically, this way I can watch TV or a movie every night without disturbing my wife. Just plug one earphone in, set up the phone on my MovieWedge, and drift off.

My main problem with this is that a recent upgrade of the Orb client for the iPhone allows for playing an entire folder of video. This is a nice feature, but I wish I could turn it off, because if I'm watching one episode of The Office from season 5 to fall asleep, I often wake up to a dead battery in the morning. Which brings me to the other app I use:

ooTunes. There are tons of internet radio applications out there, but ooTunes is by far my favorite, largely because it has a sleep timer. I just tune in to an internet radio station (usually standup comedy), set the thing to shut down in 90 minutes, and relax until I'm dreaming.

The ooTunes developer is also working on a transcoding server like Orb's, however at the moment the video transcoding is somewhat sketchy.
