Apple has announced that they sold over 300,000 iPads on Saturday, the first day of sales. These sales numbers include Apple Retail stores, delivered pre-orders, and other retail outlets that Apple utilizes. Additionally, 1 million apps were downloaded, and 250,000 eBooks from the iBookstore.
“It feels great to have the iPad launched into the world — it’s going to be a game changer,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “iPad users, on average, downloaded more than three apps and close to one book within hours of unpacking their new iPad.”
Admittedly, these official numbers are about half of what was reported by an analyst over the weekend. Still, more iPads were sold on day one than the original iPhones at it’s respective launch.
