References to New iPhone, iPod, and iPad Models Found In iPhone OS 3.2

Boy Genius Report found over the weekend that iPhone OS 3.2, which was released with the iPad, contains references to updates of current devices utilizing iPhone OS. That is, two new iPhones, a new iPod touch, and a new iPad models.

iPhone OS 3.2 configuration files reference “iPhone3,2” and “iPhone3,3”, which are two undocumented iPhone devices. In comparison, iPhone 3GS carries the “iPhone2,1” moniker.

The 3rd generation iPod touch currently carries the “iPod3,1”, and the new number refers to the next iPod touch model, expected to be released later this year.

As for the “iProd”, it first showed up n March of last year as “iProd0,1.” Another “iProd” entry showed up last year called “iProd 1,1” which was later renamed “iPad1,1” after the introduction in January. However, a new “iProd” entry called “iProd2,1” is now appearing in these reference files and likely indicates a future iPad model.
