The IMDB iPhone app is now worth using

Posted on 11 Apr 2010 by Thomas
Maybe I’ve changed since I last posted on this subject, but I love this app now. Contrary to what I reported before, the free IMDB app is very, very fast.
The compartmentalized mobile-friendly design is still the same, but loading different sections of a TV show or movie takes about half a second over wi-fi, even for non-cached pages. That absolutely beats the six to ten seconds it takes the desktop page to load in mobile Safari. The only drawback to the app is that it still doesn’t display showtimes if you’re outside of the US, despite the fact that the app is now available on the Canadian App Store. Apparently IMDB doesn’t believe Canadians watch TV (we do).

This app still sucks in regards to the search criteria. Try searching for "The Dark Knight" by just choosing the word "dark" or "knight", you won't get anything unless you type in "dark knight".

Was reading that comment from first post — actually I think it's just fine. I did that exact search and still ended up with the right movie.

Love this app. Surprised by how often I use it for movies and tv reviews and info. Any deficiencies in this app are minor to its amazing function.
