1) web developers don’t dislike flash. End users using Safari dislike flash. The fact is, Flash problems surfaced in Safari.
2) As with any platform, in Flash there are poor coders. we haven’t seen this yet with HTML5, b/c its in its infancy right now. Once it becomes more widespread, we’ll begin seeing just as many failures. To be honest, I predict Safari having issues with HTML5 as it grows in popularity for media. Apple looks for places to blame when they can’t figure out a problem, until a class action lawsuit is brought against them. Think back to every hardware flaw with an Apple product.
3) Apple has done plenty wrong. Replace the word Apple with Microsoft, and think to yourself, would they have been sued and the case been decided against them? If it turns out that its true – then you have to admit, Apple is doing plenty wrong. Once you step away from the halo, you’ll realize, there is no difference between Apple and the accusations against MS.
4) Apple does not have a standards compliant platform. When a standard doesn’t work on their platform, they throw allegations that the standard is incorrect.
5) If flash were not an outstanding way to deliver content, it wouldn’t have lasted as long as it has. Quicktime has been around longer than I can remember – why didn’t it already become a standard? Apple’s quicktime had all the capabilities Flash did, possibly before Flash did – but Quicktime did not become a standard.

Simply put, if Apple’s reasoning is to keep out subpar applications – then they should revisit their stock applications on iPhones and now iPads. Look at the Mail app on the iPhone, it will soon be on par with what users have wanted for years now. I find it hard to believe they couldnt’ have added a unified inbox long ago. And I still hate the fact that the only way to really get a Mac on Exchange is to disable security on Exchange (check Apple’s own kbase, that’s their recommendation).

Long story short, Apple has a lot of blame to carry, they’re just great at deflecting. Especially in this issue with Flash. I admit, Safari crashes on Flash very frequently. But the same sites that crashed in Safari – don’t crash on other browsers in my own uses. I’m sure this is true for many as well.
