Apple Now 56th on Fortune's 500

Fortune has released their 2010 listings of the Fortune 500. These companies are ranked by as the largest companies in the world by revenue. Apple is now 56th on that list, which is up from 71st, just a year ago. Apple’s revenues were around $36.5 billion.

Additionally, Apple ranked 26th in a listing of companies with top profits. That placing is well earned, with Apple raking in $5.7 billion in profits throughout 2009. Apple was also ranked third behind HP and Dell in the “Computers and Office Equipment” category. Most impressive, Apple ranks #1 in shareholder returns over the past five years, with some 45.6% return.

Amazing numbers.
